College Student Personnel Administration (CSPA) Master's Degree

Important New Principal Preparation Program Information: P-12 Master's Program in Educational Administration - Principal Preparation Program

Master's in P-12 Educational Administration

The Master's in P-12 Educational Administration (Informational PDF) is ISU's 36 hour principal preparation program, leading to the principal endorsement on a professional education license. The on-campus cohort model program features 10 courses (3 credit hours each) and 6 credit hours of mentored internship experiences. The first cohort of 15 students is expected to begin in Fall 2013*. Please reference our concise overview of the program for the course schedule as well as course titles, selected major topic areas, and course field experiences. The program is approved by ISBE and qualifies graduates for positions as principals and assistant principals, or in related or similar positions.

The program’s conceptual framework is Practical Wisdom for Leaders: Connecting Theory to Practice, which encompasses the following beliefs:

  • Leadership preparation features a dynamic relationship between practice and scholarship.
  • Courses blend themes of Leadership, Learning, and Social Justice in the context of Practical Wisdom.
  • Faculty honor diverse voices and multiple perspectives.
  • Graduates are our partners in the field, building inclusive learner-centered communities.
