The new ISU Principal Preparation Program (PDF), which leads to the Principal Endorsement on a Professional Educator License, was approved by the State Educator Preparation and Licensure Board (SEPLB) in September 2012 and the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) in October of 2012.

The course is designed for Illinois educators interested in advance study and preparation in the organization and administration of the management of fiscal, physical, and human resources of a public school district in Illinois. Candidates should hold a Type 75 certificate, a master's degree, and P-12 leadership experience. Applicants with a master's degree in Business, Public Administration, Finance, or Accounting do not need the Type 75 certificate.
